  • For eligibility, candidates should have completed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks.
  • They should have also passed or be in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
  • Alternatively, candidates with at least 45% marks in Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) can apply if they have passed or are in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education as per NCTE 2002 Norms.
  • Another option is for those with at least 50% marks in Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • Candidates with at least 50% marks in Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) are eligible.
  • A Bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks, along with passing or appearing in the final year of a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) is also considered.
  • If the Bachelor of Education qualification is from any NCTE recognized institution, the candidate can be appointed as a teacher in classes I to V. However, they must complete a mandatory six-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE within two years of the appointment as a primary teacher.
  • For post-graduates with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade and those who have passed or are in the final year of a three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed, they are also eligible for the CTET exam.

    CTET Junior Level (Class VI to VIII) Eligibility with Code

  • Bachelor's Degree with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (or equivalent) is eligible.
  • Alternatively, having at least 50% marks in Graduation or Post-Graduation along with a Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) or being in the final year of B.Ed is also acceptable.
  • For Graduates with at least 45% marks, having a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) according to NCTE norms is suitable.
  • Those with Senior Secondary education and at least 50% marks who are in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) qualify.
  • Candidates with Senior Secondary education and at least 50% marks, who are in the final year of a 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed, can apply.
  • Graduates with at least 50% marks who have passed or are in the final year of a 1-year B.Ed. or B.Ed Special Education meet the criteria.
  • Anyone who has completed a recognized B.Ed. Program by NCTE is eligible for the TET/CTET.
  • Additionally, individuals pursuing teacher education courses specified in NCTE's August 23, 2010 notification are qualified for the TET/CTET.
  • Post-graduates with a minimum 55% marks and either passed or appearing in the final year of a three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed are also eligible.

  • CBSE has released the CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) for Paper I (Classes I to V) and Paper II (Classes VI to VIII) for 2023.
  • Candidates can apply online from November 3, 2023, to November 23, 2023.
